Most people choose a REALTOR® based on the home they’re buying or selling today.
It makes sense. The focus is naturally on pricing, negotiations, marketing, or finding the right property. But what often gets overlooked is that one successful transaction can become the foundation for every real estate decision that follows.
We’ve been fortunate to experience that with many of our clients, including one who recently shared this thoughtful review after completing their fifth transaction with WestCoast Living.
“I have only had great experiences with the team at WestCoast Living. They have guided me as I journeyed from an apartment to townhouse and now my current home which are 3 purchases and 2 sales.
Their expertise and above and beyond attitude is unparalleled in my opinion…
Clearly I’m a fan hahaha, thanks WCL team for all your hard work!”
Reading those words reminded us that while every purchase and sale is important, the greatest compliment isn’t a five-star review.
It’s being invited back.
Over the years, we’ve watched this client move from an apartment to a townhouse and eventually into their current home. Each move represented a different chapter of life, but something else was happening in the background. Every decision built on the one before it.
The first purchase created equity.
That equity helped create opportunities for the next move.
The next move supported new lifestyle goals while continuing to build long-term wealth.
None of those decisions happened in isolation.
That’s one of the reasons we encourage clients to think beyond the immediate transaction.
When someone asks whether they should buy a particular property, we aren’t only asking whether it suits their needs today. We’re also thinking about how easily it might sell in the future, whether the location has long-term appeal, how the floor plan will age, what buyers are likely to value five or ten years from now, and whether the property creates flexibility for whatever comes next.
Those questions may not seem urgent when you’re excited about a new home, but they often become some of the most important conversations we have.
One sentence from the review captures that philosophy perfectly.
“They have guided me as I journeyed…”
Journey is an interesting word.
It recognizes that real estate isn’t simply a collection of transactions. It’s a progression.
Very few people purchase one home and never move again. Careers evolve. Families grow. Investment opportunities appear. Children leave home. Retirement changes priorities. The home that feels perfect today may no longer fit five, ten, or twenty years from now.
Our role is to help clients make decisions that support not only their present circumstances but also the possibilities ahead.
Sometimes that means encouraging someone to move forward.
Sometimes it means suggesting they stay where they are because moving doesn’t improve their overall position.
Sometimes it means recommending renovations instead of relocating.
Sometimes it means helping someone purchase an investment property before upgrading their principal residence.
There isn’t one path that’s right for everyone.
That’s why we’ve never viewed our role as simply helping people buy and sell homes. We see ourselves as helping clients navigate the many chapters of homeownership with thoughtful advice that evolves alongside their lives.
It’s also why many of our conversations happen years before a transaction.
Some clients call to ask about changing market conditions. Others want to understand whether a renovation makes financial sense, whether it’s time to invest, or whether waiting another year could better position them for their next move.
Those conversations are every bit as valuable as writing an offer because they help people make decisions with confidence instead of reacting to headlines or market noise.
To our longtime client, thank you for trusting us through five important milestones over the years. Watching your real estate journey unfold has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re grateful you’ve allowed us to be part of each new chapter.
The best REALTOR® isn’t simply someone who helps you buy your next home.
It’s someone who helps you make better real estate decisions throughout your lifetime.
